Like fellow Bush Pioneer Marty Fiorentino, Rood sits on the board of the James Madison Institute, a think tank that promotes school vouchers, welfare reform, free enterprise and low taxes. Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Florida’s Future merged with the Madison Institute in ‘99. Jeb Bush appointed Rood to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
